Description
Originating from the island of Ceylon (Sri Lanka), this black tea is made from a fine picking of buds and leaves (Flowery Pekoe) fully oxidized and scented with bergamot.
Bergamot is a citrus fruit resembling a small orange with greenish flesh and smooth skin that turns yellow when ripe. It is especially harvested for the essential oils it contains but it is also used in confectionery and Earl Gray tea.
The story of this tea comes from Earl Gray, a British man from the beginning of the 19th century, who introduced an old Chinese recipe in Europe, flavoring his tea with bergamot.
